Its true that no mechanic recommends these sort of repairs. Actually these companies are making money by exploiting people who are in search of easy and cheap fix. Almost everyone buys one or two bottles of these sealants.  In the end its the head gasket which is replaced in 99% of cars and the rest go to junkyard.

When this happens I will try it before I eventually make the switch to propylene glycol instead of that shit which should be obsolete, known as ethylene glycol. Perhaps a leak will be the incentive. I am not trolling.

I used it on my chevy cavalier. After a week and a half now It has proven itself.. I initially had problems starting the engine after cooling because it was getting hydro lock. It finally started and has been usable ever since… Tech support told me it had sodium silicate as one of the ingredients in it.. I even had to replace the spark plugs on it so it would start. I also have been leaving the filler cap loose on the reservoir to keep pressure from building up to help the silicate to form. This week I will tighten pressure cap up to really put it to the test.  So far so good..

i was very skeptical on Blue devil gasket sealer on my 1995 Accord cause i didn't want to shell out $65 for a bottle…. i flushed out my coolant with water and took out the thermostat added half the bottle and ran it at idle for 1 hour… and then let cool overnight …… The stuff really worked for 2 or so months and then it started to have the same original symptoms …… but guess what i have the other half of the bottle so i guess what I'm doing today into tomorrow ……….9/16/14…. Blue devil is like a jolly rancher candy when it drys between the cracks of the bad part of the head gasket.. it will be a Temporary fix so don't push your car to hard after using this (Heavy stand still traffic/ long trips / high revs /etc/etc/etc/) your car is best as a station car or local grocery getter don't plan on doing no 100+ mile trips in 100 degree heat ……hope this helps

It actually states on the bottle that all you have to do is remove the thermostat, he doesn't state this in the video. It also states that is all you have to do, you can leave the antifreeze in the car, you don't have to flush or back flush it at all. I used it in My 2002 Dodge Ram 4.7L. It lasted 3 years. Great stuff. Only $60ish bucks instead of 900 for a headjob. There is also a $35 dollar version that you just pour and go, It is actually called pour and go. You can leave the thermostat and antifreeze in. I used it recently on a car I bought and it worked flawlessly, sealing up the leaking head, which was pouring water into he oil. It sealed the hole. One thing I did however was to pour a quart of Lucas oil additive into the oil, saving the engines bearings for the 50 minute idle time. I actually, going against the instructions, poured it into a already warmed up engine. Then only let it idle for about 10 minutes before going for a half hour drive, then after that going for a 3 hours drive. It sealed up the leak and have had no problems since. Wonderful product! It also has a money back guarantee so if it doesn't work, simply return it for a full refund. It states this on the bottle also.

i used this on a 98 honda civic lx and it did work as advertised stopped the leak. Now 9k miles later its back to leaking so now its time for a new gasket. This does work IF you follow directions, but is only a temp. fix you will end up changing the headgasket.

Three years ago I had a crappy Ford minivan that was blowing a crap load of white smoke.
The vehicle cost 800 bucks so I didn't have anything to lose.
I'm kind of a conspiracy theorist when it comes to anything even close to looking like an advertisement for a product.
BUT, in this case, it worked.
Drain everything because it leaves a nasty residue on everything it touches.
    Today, Another van, another attempt.

It also wouldn't leak if the cooling system was empty. You can't see an air leak. I believe this guy is being truthful, but it would have been nice to see a more detailed video. Please understand, people (including myself) are skeptical as to whether chemicals can stop a head leak. Thank for the video.

Can this be used on an air cooled engine (no radiator)? I have 1977 Honda CB550K with a blown head gasket (mechanic wants $800). Do you add it to the oil? Sorry if it's a dumb question. I'm not very mechanically inclined.

Hey everyone. I know this video is perhaps a little bit older, but I did want to share.. My S10 Blazer has a very similar leak. It is nasty, like this one. Spews water out of around a cylinder, I had someone look at it and say it was the water jacket. I had to drive all day and only near the end of the day did the leak reappear. I used an oil sealer too, as it mixed with my coolant and made milkshake oil. I used Blue Devil this morning. I will put a video response to this, Blue Devil does work.

What if the car is worth less than $1K and you just want to keep it for a couple years? Don't you think it's worth a shot to try it? Certainly you wouldn't want to put the time and/or money into doing the head gasket in this case.

my friend I am only sharing my experience with the product. that's great if it worked for you, however it did not work for me like i said combustion gases built up to much pressure and just blew the product out the reservoir overflow hose after running it for 10 min or so and it did not seal. so my friend perhaps its you thats the ignorant sum bitch.

I have worked in auto parts for over 10 years and I have sold dozens of these bottles. If the leak in the head gasket is in the water jacket, this product works very well if you follow the directions and do it properly. If the head gasket is blown between the cylinders where the cylinders are sharing compression and mis-firing, then replacing the head gasket is a must.

It would be cheaper to replace the entire drivetrain, and chassis than to use a sealant. But finding a car under $100.00 would not be simple.
