how to test and repair motorcycle CDI electronic ignition module coil system spark failure

Read below if you want stickers !

In this video, I show you how to test and resolve Honda CDI box module and coil issues related to an electronic ignition system spark failure. Sometimes it best of just upgrade to a more modern system. After riding this a bit more, Jake might want to convert it to a café racer or brat style custom bike – bad ass !

Send me mail! – whenever there is enough stuff in the mail bag to put together a subscriber mail reading and shout-out, I will put up a video for you guys! Thanks to those of you who already sent me letters and gifts !

Send me stuff to use in videos !

Yes- I actually do send stickers out to those who contribute bits, parts, stuff for my projects and pretty much everyone who I talk about or thank in my videos. If you want to send me bike stuff, things for potential use in videos or tools to review etc. (or even just cash donations ! )

That's the problem with those high performance, high tech bikes. That's probably a 2014 model, the 2015 model requires a supercomputer hooked up to it just for a diagnosis. Nice to see the problem could be solved with that modern Bosh module 🙂
Does it give any performance increase?

Im going to try this on a Chinese bike Im having trouble with. Im going to use a car coil, condencer and what ever points I can get to fit…if it works, Ill let you know.

I have a similar problem on my motorsickle. The thing is that while troubleshooting I removed the CDI and tried to start the bike and it behaves exactly the same as with the CDI installed (doesnt start). This leads me to believe the problem is not with the CDI and that I might not even need the CDI unit at all. Looks like I can save some weight here!

Hey be careful setting fire to old Japanese electrical components, theres some real bad ass shit chemicals in some of them. One I heard of, created an acid, that if came into contact with skin would result in amputation to prevent further damage.
    Bad ass
Of course if you ever find out which cdi's make the best acid, can you post part numbers on here, I'd like to pop some in my boss's condoms, just for laughs you understand!

You really know your stuff Ichiban keep up the good work. Do Nickeltown Customs offer that in a kit? Did you have to add any smoke the ignition or was the smoke already installed?

Awesome as ever! I think all new bikes should come with that new CDI system……a real leap forward in terms of reliability and simplicity.Much better than the old system that needs constant adjustment and replacing every five minutes.Where can I get your test light…. that really is BAD ASS!
